Now playing: Kuba – Drop the pain
In a single day, Seth Godin managed to take over the internet in conjunction with his book release, Linchpin: Are You Indispensable (affiliate).
I’m not going to lie and say that I follow Seth to the T. I am subscribed to Seth Godin’s blog and I have actually only read Small is the New Big and 183 Other Riffs, Rants, and Remarkable Business Ideas (affiliate), which I did not buy and checked it out from Paterno Library here at Penn State. I read through it pretty quick, but got quite a ton of information from it.
I got to say, I normally just get all my books through my MASSIVE tuition here at Penn State and make wonderful use of Paterno Library (why is Microsoft Word telling me “Paterno” is spelled wrong? They should fix that), but after realizing the power that is Seth Godin, I just ordered Linchpin: Are You Indispensable (affiliate) to have it overnighted to me. I cannot wait to read it and give yinz a review on it soon!
What made me make the impulse decision to buy Linchpin?
Seth Godin is one of the biggest innovators in the world. He also is the author the one of the most popular marketing blogs in the world and has released quite a few bestselling books. Seth Godin is a man that can be everywhere at once. How does he do this? He uses the power of Social Media.
How to be everywhere at one time
Just on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 Seth released his new book that is soon to become a bestseller (if it is already not) Linchpin: Are You Indispensable? (affiliate) Actually it has already hit the top 10 on Amazon. As of this writing, Linchpin already has over 116 reviews on Amazon, with 100 of them 5 stars, 14 of them 4 stars, 1 of them 3 stars, 1 of them being a 1 star. He is really taking this book to a whole new world. How is he getting Linchpin known so fast and so quickly?
With his book release came a massive amount of “Seth Godins” popping up everywhere across the internet all at once. Even if you are not an active member in social media, you probably ran into Seth Godin. In a single day, Seth Godin managed to take over the internet in conjunction with his book release.
When I popped open my laptop on Tuesday and checked out what was going on with everyone in “Social Media World” it seemed like Seth Godin was talking to me through either a Guest Post on someone else’s blog, an interview through either online radio, podcasts, blogs, newspapers, or just about any media you can think of. I also ran into Seth Godin at his home base at his blog SethGodin.com.
If you did not know about his book release, then you most likely knew about it after Tuesday. If you did not know anything about the book Linchpin, heck, if you did not even know what a Linchpin actually is (Wiki: “is a fastener used to prevent a wheel or other rotating part from sliding off the axle it is riding on.”), then you most likely know those answers too after Tuesday.
Seth Godin did the ultimate book launch through the power of Social Media. He managed to capture just about every single different audience in every different niche you could think of. He managed to be in a ton of places all at once on Tuesday. From Vagabonders at Chris Guillebeau’s The Art of Non-Conformity to listeners of the Small Business Marketers at the Duct Tape Marketing Podcast to Young Lifestyle Designers with Jun Loayza at Untemplater.com. It felt like as if you spent a whole day with one of the biggest innovators in the world in Seth Godin.
If you were not over the edge to buy Linchpin or had not even heard of it, you probably will feel compelled to learn more about the man, the myth, the legend of Seth Godin and how he can change your life in so many different ways.
