Effective communication is king.
Effective communication is especially king for teams. It is the glue that holds everything together.
While watching a recent Pittsburgh Penguins hockey game on television, I noticed something that often goes unnoticed: Constant communication between the players.
Try this. Next time you see a hockey game, either on television or in person, try and block out the announcers and play-by-play analysts and focus solely on the communication between players.
If you do this the next time you watch a hockey game, either in person or on TV, you will notice that there is almost constant communication happening between the players.
Also notice in another team sport, football. There is all sorts of different communication techniques ranging from silent audibles, hand motions, headsets mounted in quarterbacks helmets, name-calls that refer to a certain blocking scheme, and so on. A whole book could be written on communication on the football field between players.
The point is communication is king. Content is just a form of communication. Learn how to effectively communicate and you will find success.
